“I tell, you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned: he has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24 NIV
As a parent I reflect upon the early developmental year of my kids, the memories that so quickly fade away even though they are precious. The first time they grabbed my finger and stared at my face and grinned. The first time I got them to say da, da before ma,ma. As they develop they learn like little sponges absorbing as much information as quickly as possible. They look at Kim and I with such trust and believe. They know that we love them and that our hearts desire is to help them develop and have a healthy life. In the noted text Jesus speaks about believe and says.. “whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me….” will be made whole. In John 17, Jesus prays and in his prayer he acknowledges his belief, that the message that was given by the father to Jesus who spoke it was received by those the father gave him. He prayed for those believers will compassion and love. Children in their innocence put such faith and trust in us as parents, grandparents, or guardians. We in the same manner should look to God for guidance in regards to how to live life, decisions to make etc. Remember Jesus said in Matthew 7:11 “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” I love to give good things to my kids, to see their expression brings joy to my heart. How much more will the Lord, be joyed when we submit ourselves to him, receive his blessings, and become transformed into the people he wants us to be.
