A number of weeks ago my wife and I walked the Toe Path at the C & O Canal in Williamsport. My plan was to walk a few miles, and then take a flower in memory of my sister and toss it into the Potomac River. Everything was going just as planned, we walked our miles, got to the edge of the river tossed the flower in and low and behold the current wasn’t taking the flower, it just circled, and circled. My sweetheart, with perfect timing said, “maybe you should have tossed it father out”. With a bit of frustration, I walked away as the flower continued to circle and not go with the current. As I walked away I glanced at the tree line and there before me was a piece of drift wood. I thought perfect; I can toss it in and move the flower into the current. As I carried the branch over my loving wife said, “be careful if you throw it to close it will not work.” As any loving husband with a task at hand would say I said “Yes, Dear”. I tossed the branch in, it entered the water with a splash, the ripples from the splash pushed the flower into the current and I watched the flower slowly travel down stream.
I learned a valuable lesson during that little adventure. In the Journey of life we can do everything in our power to make things happen. We can network with the right people, pursue the academics that we need, and seem to have all bases covered. Even with all of that we may not get where we believe we need to be. We need an external force to move us at the right time to where we need to be. God’s timing is perfect and His will cannot b stopped. As I reflect upon God’s faithfulness I realize if I do my part in His perfect timing he will place me were he wants me to be. His timing is perfect all we must do is continue to be faithful, trust and have faith.

Timing is so important! If you are going to be successful in dance, you must be able to respond to rhythm and timing. It’s the same in the Spirit. People who don’t understand God’s timing can become spiritually spastic, trying to make the right things happen at the wrong time. They don’t get His rhythm – and everyone can tell they are out of step. They birth things prematurely, threatening the very lives of their God-given dreams. – T. D. Jakes
